The following information outlines the video footage collection from the Cal-Echoes Research Cruise. The footage has been formatted as a standard DV file compatible for Windows and Macintosh systems:
-DV-NTSC, AVI
-720 x 480
-16-bit, 48k
The footage has been trimmed based on topic or work process. There are multiple clips in most video file when related. The interviews have been separated from the working foodtage unless interviewed during work process.
The general footage category includes the major interviews and miscellaneous work processes. The Lab Work category contains footage taken of people at microscopes or sorting animals and samples. All other categories relate to particular pieces of equipment such as the IKMT or Box Core.
To use these clips, download them to your local hard drive and import into your video editing application such as iMovie, Movie Maker, Premier or Final Cut Pro. In most cases, the clips will need further trimming. In the case of the Complete Videos, these videos are final edits. Five of these videos were produced and sent off the ship during the cruise and the others completed after the cruise.
In most cases, each clip contains multiple clips of the same topic or work process for the trimmed footage.
