Research: Innate Immune Evolution

Socrates Project: Fish Phylogenetics

Tristan is a 5th year PhD student of Dr. Lena Gerwick in Marine Biology at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD.

His current projects include a functional study of a new family of innate immune proteins in Zebrafish and a broader study of innate immune evolution. Tristan hails from North Carolina where he grew up exploring the Blue Ridge mountains and achieved bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. When not at his desk, you'll likely find him swimming in the cove, catching catfish, or goofing with the lab computers.
