Andro is currently a graduate student in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UC San Diego pursuing research in organic chemistry. Andro Rios pursued a career in Jazz and Latin-Jazz music before turning to science which was catalyzed by a three month stay in Nicaragua. The immense diversity of life he observed during his frequent visits to the rain forests re-ignited his passion to learn more about the natural world and his fascination with the question to the origin of life. During his undergraduate years as a chemistry major at California State University Sacramento, he pursued research as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, won an American Chemical Society Scholar award and was heavily involved in working with the Science Educational Equity (S.E.E) program as a mentor, adjunct teacher and tutor.
