John Goeltz is a graduate student in Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCSD. About SocratesThe Socrates program has greatly improved my ability to communicate what I do in the lab. I was forced to understand at a much deeper level how what we do in the lab relates to what society needs and why NSF funds our work."He studies electron transfer in small molecules at metal surfaces, as well as the role of bridges in electron transfer processes.

John thinks the chemistry of cooking is both fascinating and delicious, and can’t wait to experiment in the kitchen again tonight.
