ScienceBridge has supported efforts that engage everyday citizens in authentic scientific research. This includes providing opportunities for K-12 students and teachers to collaborate with UCSD researchers to collaborate on projects that involve data collection that is useful and meaningful to the community.
ScienceBridge has worked with many collaborators to help students experience nearby nature, a powerful learning tool to bring relevent science to high school students and beyond. This past year we have worked with Jesse Wade Robinson at High Tech High as her class explores Pollinators in Peril. The class worked closely with graduate student James Hung of the Holway Lab here at UCSD. Students worked to collect pollinators from all over the county in their own back yards to add to James' dataset and increase understanding of pollinators.
